"Rector's Cup" with Rain Showers
the RWTH golf tournament took place for the twelfth time at the Mergelhof Golf Club in Gemmenich. The about 60 participants didn't let anything ruin their good mood and joy of playing. The team always comes first at the Rector's Cup, with teams playing according to the rules for Texas Scramble with three or four people per flight.
Successful participants were in a particularly good mood during the award ceremony in the evening: the winners for the gross evaluation were Thomas Ebert, Prof. Dr. Reinhart Poprawe, Karola Haag, and Illa Lax-Feuerborn. Dr. Peter Ehrentraut, Annelie Gras, and Sabine Egry won in the net category.
There were also two honorable mentions: Among the women, Heike Charlotte Müller won for "Longest Drive“ and Johannes Käppler among the men. For the "Nearest to the Pin“ award, Rosy Geiser won, representing the women, and Bodo Dauvermann-Abel for the men.
The Rector’s Cup isn't just about athletic enjoyment. With the financial support of selected projects and measures of RWTH, the golfers also maintain a positive attitude towards benefitting the university. Four additional Germany Scholarships could be funded as a result of this year's event.
